Falling For Telluride
The Colorado Gold Rush
The Pike's Peak gold rush (later known as the Colorado gold rush) was the boom in gold prospecting and mining in the Pike's Peak Country of western Kansas Territory and southwestern Nebraska Territory of the United States that began in July 1858 and lasted until roughly the creation of the Colorado Territory on February 28, 1861. An estimated 100,000 gold seekers took part in one of the greatest gold rushes in North American history.
There is still a Colorado gold rush today. It happens every year in this beautiful state. The months of September and October are the best times to come and get rich… with color.
Fall is spectacular in Colorado. The aspens change the landscape into a beautiful, golden heaven. The cool air. The shimmering leaves. The bright colors. It is truly a magical time here in Colorado.
I shot this photo on my first trip to Telluride Colorado. The beautiful Aspens in the foreground with the snow covered mountain peaks in the background caught my eye. As you look into the photo you will be able to notice multiple Aspen groves dancing up the mountain side. It is stunning scenery like this that makes this state a very special place to see during the fall.
