Framed By Fall
Picture Perfect
Beyond its scenic beauty, autumn carries profound symbolism, mirroring the transitions we experience in our own lives. Embracing the fall season can be a powerful teacher, urging us to embrace change, let go of what no longer serves us, and find beauty in the impermanence of life.
Fall is my favorite season. The hot weather is ending, the air is crisp and the colors are plentiful. Fall does have some flaws. The days are getting shorter. The time to get out and enjoy mother nature is limited. Because of the shortened days, I may not be able to get up into the mountains to shoot. So I look for some local treasures.
On one fall day I was visiting one of my favorite lakes in northern Colorado. The beautiful mountains standing tall in the west have a light coating of snow on them letting us know that winter will soon be arriving. Without a vision or plan, I grabbed my camera and took a walk around the lake. Taking in the colors, listening to the sounds of the leaves. I would have had an enjoyable day even if I did click my shutter once.
Standing under a tree I looked up to admire the mountains. The mountains were framed beautifully by the tree branches I was standing under. I set up my tripod, framed the mountains in front of me with the glowing trees. The beautiful blue sky with some wispy white clouds completing the top of my picture frame. I clicked away. I must have shot a few dozen photos. But then I stopped shooting and enjoyed the moment. Once again realizing how lucky I am to be able to capture these images, both with my camera, and my mind.
