Photographing The National Parks of America
Photographing The National Parks of America
Welcome to my blog. As you can tell from the title, this blog will focus on National Parks and photography. My first experience in a National Park was when I was a kid growing up in Philly. Living in a city of almost 2 million people, experiencing the “great outdoors” is not always an option. So, each summer my family would pile into the big green station wagon and head south. After a nice 5-6 hour ride listening to Kenny Rogers and Beach Boys cassettes, we would arrive at Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. This is where I first fell in love with National Parks. Beautiful scenery, amazing wildlife, nature, hiking, picnics, etc… Shenandoah was not the only park we visited, but that one will always be special to me. The memories I have from going there fill my heart. As I got older, I would start to learn that National Parks were not just cool places I visited with my family, but extremely important places to help preserve the natural beauty of this country. The experiences I have had in numerous National Parks are what inspired me to start this blog. I will release a new post every month. There will be two main topics that I will focus on. “Your Park Entrance” will focus on visiting and photographing specific parks. “G & T” will discuss photography gear and give you important tips for when you visit the parks.
“Your Park Entrance”
These blogs will be published on the first day of each even numbered month. It is here where we will dive into a specific park. My lifelong goal is to visit every National Park in the United States. There are a few other parks in the world that are not in the United States National Park Service system that I would like to visit, but this blog will mainly focus on the National Parks in America. To be authentic, the blog post that I will be sharing with you will only deal with parks that I have visited and photographed. I do not believe I can truly discuss a park unless I have explored it myself. These entries will be full of valuable information. I will share with you where and what you can photograph in each park. This will include landscapes, nature and wildlife. Each park is special and unique. At the end of each blog I will share my favorite memory of each park. This will be the hardest part about writing these blags, because picking just one great memory from each park will be very difficult.
“G & T”
This blog will be published on every odd numbered month. “G & T” is not gin and tonic, but Gear and Tips. These entries will focus on essential gear for photographing in the National Parks and tips to help you enjoy the specific park. If there is specific gear you would like me to discuss or review, please contact me below and I will make it a topic for a “G & T” month.
I hope this blog will inspire you to visit the wonderful National Parks in the great country. Whether you are into photography, or just love the outdoors, visiting a National Park should be on your list of things to do.
