Teton Reflection
Oxbow Bend
Oxbow Bend is the most photographed location in the Grand Teton National Park. The iconic view of the Snake River with Mt Moran's reflection is easily the most recognized image of the area. This classic location has been photographed thousands of times - and when you first drive up this spot you will quickly understand why.
You can always get a great shot here, but this location at peak fall season is special. The brisk early morning air looking out over the mirror reflection of the golden aspens with Mt. Moran in the background is completely breathtaking.
When planning my trip to Grand Teton National Park, Oxbow bend was at the top of my list. It is a magnificent location, but there was another reason I wanted to shoot here. Some of the greatest photography icons have shot here. Ansel Adams, Art Wolf and local Teton Legend, Thomas Mangelsen. These amazing artists have truly inspired me and my photography. To be able to capture a photo where they have once stood and shot was a great moment in my photography life.
Getting this shot is a 3 on the difficulty meter. You drive up to Oxbow Bend. Walk around to find the best composition. Pray for the wind to stop so you get a nice reflection in the water. Then press the shutter release button. Odds are greatly in your favor that you will get a great shot here.
