A Nice Reward

If you have ever hiked above the tree line in the mountains, you know it can be an incredibly exhausting and challenging experience. However, when you finally reach that summit and behold the breathtaking view that stretches out before you, the reward makes every ounce of effort worthwhile. On one unforgettable occasion, when I spotted this magnificent bull elk at the very top of Rocky Mountain National Park, I could only imagine how long and perhaps demanding his “hike” was that particular day. This majestic creature truly deserved this rewarding moment—to lay down, take a load off his powerful legs, and soak in that stunning panoramic view. Seeing him taught me a valuable lesson: when you work hard to reach a destination and accomplish something meaningful, it is completely okay to take a moment to enjoy your well-earned success. I felt incredibly lucky to have captured this photograph, as for a few precious moments in time, it felt like I was sharing in this beautiful scene with the bull elk. I was able to experience and appreciate this accomplishment alongside him, taking a few moments to simply stand still, look out, and fully cherish the incredible view that surrounded us both.
